I was incredibly thrilled that Kiran Pereira of SandStories kindly promoted Harena Now via her website and social media.
I had emailed Kiran to let her know about my work, and how vital her work has been to my research into the sand crisis.
She wrote back to say that she had been meaning to get in touch as she had seen my work on social media.
Kiran has been studying and raising awareness of this issue since her dissertation on sand mining for her Masters course in Environment and Development in 2010.
She has also featured in Denis Delestrac’s film, Sand Wars – one of my earliest inspirations.
In our email chat we mentioned the possibility of future collaboration – I’m hopeful this is something we can arrange.
To promote my work, she shared it on her website, SandStories.Org and via her Twitter account (see Fig. 1), which I shared on (see Fig. 2).

Kiran has also kindly confirmed that she is happy for me to share her film about sand at my next exhibition.
