Social media promotion – part 1

In the run up to my show on July 26, I have posted a selection of quotes relating to sand on my social media channels.

They are as follows:

They each contain a close-up of one of my show images and include a quote that relates to sand, from Blake’s Auguries of Innocence poem written circa 1803 to journalist Vince Beiser’s 2018 comments on the current sand crisis.

Three have been shared on Facebook so far (Figs. 6-8):

I also added four quotes to Instagram (Fig. 9):

Viewing the insights for these posts, it would seem that on Facebook the quote by Vince Beiser attracted the most engagement (Fig 13-14):

On Instagram, the same post received 194 interactions, while on Twitter the same quote is my Top Tweet of the month so far (Fig.15):

Most of my posts are made during the evening as I know that is when my followers are most active, but I also shared some during the daytime too to help spread coverage.

It is quite interesting to see that one image has been the most popular of the three/four I have shared.

I can not see why this particular image/quote should be most popular, except maybe on Twitter where I have included Vince Beiser’s account too.

Along with these posts, I have also promoted the event with a paid-for advert on Facebook (Fig. 16):

This advert is running for four more days. It’s total cost is £12.

Looking at insights it has so far reach more than 760 accounts and attracted 11 responses (Fig. 17).

It is interesting to see how these posts attract engagement and interest in my show, but I also know I need to send personal invites (going out today) and use other marketing tools to attract a wide audience.
